GREG WILLIAMS
Greg Williams experienced bullying during childhood and was encouraged to begin martial arts at the age of seven to help build confidence and self-belief. From an early age, Greg recognised the powerful effect physical training and movement could have not only on the body, but also on emotional resilience, mindset, discipline, and mental strength.
The positive impact martial arts had on his own life inspired Greg to begin coaching others, driven by a strong belief that movement, structure, and supportive coaching environments can help people rebuild confidence and overcome personal challenges. Having experienced bullying himself, Greg feels particularly passionate about supporting children and young people struggling with confidence, self-esteem, emotional difficulties, or social isolation, understanding first-hand how these experiences can have long-term effects if left unaddressed.
Raised within a highly competitive martial arts family, Greg dedicated himself to studying and competing in multiple combat disciplines over many years. His training and travels took him across Japan, Thailand, and Australia, where he continued developing his knowledge and experience in martial arts and combat sports. His background spans:
boxing
Muay Thai
judo
aikido
and other full-contact martial arts disciplines.
Over the last 25 years, Greg has developed a reputation not only as a coach, but also as a mentor to many of his clients and athletes. While he has a strong passion for coaching fighters and performance athletes, he finds equal reward in helping complete beginners grow in confidence, resilience, discipline, and self-belief through boxing and movement.
Greg sees himself as a sports performance coach rather than simply a personal trainer, combining technical coaching with mindset, confidence building, and long-term athlete development. For over 15 years, he has worked extensively within professional boxing, coaching alongside and learning from some of the most respected names in British boxing including Jimmy Tibbs, Johnny Eames, and Adam Booth.
Alongside coaching professional athletes, Greg has developed boxing programmes for major health clubs across the UK and has extensive experience designing and delivering structured boxing education and coaching systems.
Today, through HeadGuard and Boxology, Greg combines over 30 years of combat sports experience with trauma-informed coaching approaches focused on confidence, emotional resilience, wellbeing, empowerment, and human connection — helping individuals rebuild strength, identity, and self-belief through movement and community.
